Youth work is purpose filled and pays both the hand and heart with rates starting at $45/hr.

Getting the mandatory requirements might be daunting and overwhelming.

What does a youth worker actually do?

Key Responsibilities

Provide emotional and practical support

Our youth care workers provide one-on-one or group support, including basic counselling, to help young people navigate personal, social, and developmental challenges. 

Develop life skills

Help our young people build essential life skills, such as self-esteem, empathy, and determination, through various programs and activities. 

Connect to resources

Refer young people to specialists for complex issues like trauma, addiction, or mental health concerns, and help them access other essential services. 

Arrange essential needs

For youth experiencing homelessness, workers may arrange shelter placements, provide food and clothing, and help with enrollment in educational programs. 

Act as advocates and role models

Youth care workers advocate for the needs of young people, build trusting relationships by acting as positive role models, and liaise with teachers, social workers, and authorities on behalf of young people.

Design and deliver programs

Organise and lead community events, educational workshops, recreational activities like sports or art, and projects designed to build skills and confidence. 

Maintain and provide safety

Ensure young people's safety, supervise them in care settings, and maintain records of their wellbeing and the services they receive.

We’re looking for motivated and reliable people who want to help young people build confidence, resilience, and brighter futures. Whether you’ve worked in the sector before, or you’re looking for a new direction in your career, MANAWISE Care provides the support you need to succeed.

You might be:

An experienced youth worker already in the sector.

Someone with a background in human services, social services, aged care, education, NDIS, youth justice or child safety.

Currently studying towards a qualification in these areas.

A person with life experience to share and a passion to support young people.

A career changer looking for meaningful work where you can make a real difference.

Don’t worry if you don’t have everything yet, we’ll support you step by step!

To work with young people in Queensland, we’ll need to complete a few checks and qualifications:

Recently arrived from New Zealand?

We’ll assist you to get your Australian license and Blue Card.

We’ll provide a step-by-step guide to keep you on track.

Need help with costs?
We can cover upfront fees for First Aid, CPR, Blue Card, and Police Checks (repayable through payroll).

Haven’t got your Cert IV yet?
Our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) can help you enrol and complete your qualification.

Recently arrived from New Zealand? We’ll assist you to get your Australian license and Blue Card.
